A dark day in history, September 11, 2001 saw al-Qaeda terrorists coordinate four suicide attacks against targets in New York City and Washington, D.C. Two planes crashed into the landmarkTwin Towers of the World Trade Center and within hours, both towers collapsed. As the world watched in horror, a third plane hit the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. Passengers tried to take control of the fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, and ended up crashing it into a field rather than its intended target in Washington. Nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks, including 24 Canadians. We remember them.
